Meals-on-wheels Delivery Service
Late in 1999, the FSEG entered into an agreement with the Ministry for Gozo and the M.A.S. Residential Complex for the Older to set up the Meals-on-Wheels Service in Gozo. The Ministry helps in financing the project, the M.A.S. manages the provision of the meals and the FSEG run the daily delivery service using the vehicle they donated specifically for this purpose. So far the service has run smoothly and 5,716 meals were delivered during the year 2000. Presently between 11 and 16 meals are being delivered daily, including Sundays, holidays and feast days, to various locations in Gozo.
Two different menu lists alternate every week and are completely changed periodically. Each meal comprises three courses and costs just €2.50.

Special Equipment Service
The observed high incidence of pressure sores in bed-ridden patients stimulated the FSEG to donate six "Ripple" mattresses to the hospital in 1988. This action had a catalytic effect and the hospital authorities soon supplied a large number of similar mattresses.
The society continues to provide special ("Ripple" or "Eggshell") mattresses and cushions to bed-ridden or wheelchair-bound persons in their residences or in private homes. Originally these were given out on loan but later most clients preferred to buy them. The society procures and delivers them without charging anything for the service; however, some people kindly give a donation to the society or, sometimes, donate the mattresses to the society when no longer needed by them. The mattresses in stock are loaned free of charge to anyone who needs them but cannot afford to buy them.
Other equipment items (such as electrically adjustable beds, patient lifters, wheelchairs, walking aids, portable chemical toilets, etc.) are loaned out and some others are donated. Current store is at Centru Qalb Wahda, Parish Priest Hili Street, Fontana and at MAS Complex, Mgarr Road, Ghajnsielem, Gozo.
